O que entender
A memorable way to stop, breathe, observe, and proceed with awareness during a busy day.
STOP stands for Stop, Take a breath, Observe, and Proceed. This short mindfulness practice can interrupt automatic momentum and bring attention to body sensations, emotions, thoughts, and surroundings. The aim is not to force instant calm or erase difficult feelings. It is simply to create a small, usable pause in which you can notice what is happening before choosing your next action.
Como praticar
When you notice rushing, tension, or an urge to react, stop what you are doing if it is safe. Feel one natural inhale and exhale. Observe one body sensation, the strongest emotion, a thought that is present, and something in your surroundings. Then proceed with one intentional next step. Try STOP before replying to a message, between tasks, or before chanting. A daily reminder can help you practise it in ordinary moments so the sequence becomes familiar.
You do not need to manufacture relaxation or take an unusually deep breath. If you are driving or doing something safety-critical, keep your eyes open and adapt the pause without stopping abruptly.

What if I only have a little time today?
Use the smallest possible version, even if it is only one minute. Keeping a small appointment with yourself is often more useful than waiting for a perfect window.
Do I need to do it perfectly?
You do not need to manufacture relaxation or take an unusually deep breath. If you are driving or doing something safety-critical, keep your eyes open and adapt the pause without stopping abruptly. The aim is to notice and return, not to create the same experience every day.
